Decoding Wedding Dress Codes: Festive

Decoding Wedding Dress Codes: Festive

There are two seasons in my life, football season and wedding season. Engagement parties, bridal showers, bachelorette parties, rehearsal dinners, and weddings, oh my! My spring and summer calendar is full of wedding celebrations. Though I enjoy reuniting with old friends, sharing memories, and celebrating the unity of marriage, my bank account takes a hit from my wedding season wardrobe. This inspired me to create looks for popular wedding dress codes, with the help of Goodwill of course. Without further ado, here’s Part 4 of Decoding Wedding Dress Codes: Festive (Check out earlier posts on  Black TieBlack Tie Optional, and Semiformal!)

Jumpsuit: Zara via Goodwill (Similar Splurge // Save); Shoes: Aldo, old (Similar Here); Necklace: Goodwill Online (Similar Splurge // Save)

The “Festive” dress code appears to be a new phenomena in the wedding world. So what exactly does it mean? Anything goes? Not quite ANYTHING, but think cocktail with a bold and funky twist. The stuffy rules of a more formal affair are relaxed for both men and women. Men can opt for a trendy suit with a fun tie or bow tie. Women should not shy away from patterns or bold colors. This dress code often pops up around the holidays. Have fun with it!

If you haven’t jumped on the jumpsuit bandwagon, I’ll scoot over and save you a seat. My mom hit the Goodwill gold mine when she snagged this Zara jumpsuit at Goodwill for me. It’s a steal for $7.99!! I pity the fool that let this slip away, but my closet is eternally grateful. The backless look isn’t a look I would wear to a conservative wedding, but it’s the perfect bold statement for a “festive” wedding!

P.S. Thanks to Homestead Manor for allowing us to use their beautiful venue! (Their brunch is delicious too!)

Wedding season is finally winding down for me so you will see much more activity on the blog. I can’t wait to share some of the great posts I’m working on! Is there anything you would like to see on Goldwill Digger? leave me a comment below or shoot me an e-mail!

Love that jumper!!! I wish I were taller to wear something like this. Short gals like me just look kinda goofy in things like this for some reason.

Wide leg jumpsuits with heels make my legs look forever long! I wish it were real life.

My two seasons are holiday season and wedding season! Lol I love Goodwill– really all thrift stores. I don’t shop for clothes too much but I always look for items for the house!

Goodwill is a great place to find housewares too! It takes a little creativity to see the potential!

Betsy, you look beautiful in this blue jumpsuit! Finding a jumpsuit is on my short list but I need to wait until after I have this baby. 😉
