10 Best Beauty Buys of 2018

Though I’m not a beauty expert, I looooove trying out the newest skin care, makeup and treatments. I’ve made investing in skincare a top priority because I’m creeping up to 30, and I see a bigger difference in quality on skincare versus makeup. I’d much rather splurge on skincare and save on makeup!

Just a reminder that everyone’s skin is different, and these products may not work well for you! One of my favorite beauty resources for reviews and detailed, unbiased product information is Beautypedia. I tried a TON of new products over the past year! Here are my favorite beauty buys of 2018!

Kate Sommerville – Exfolicate Cleanser I was nervous to use an “exfoliating” cleanser twice a day as I thought it would be too harsh for my sensitive skin, but the Exfolicate Cleanser is unbelievably gentle yet effective.

Clarisonic Firming Massage Brush Head Facial massage became very popular this year, and this Clarisonic add-on makes facial massage so quick and convenient! I use it on my Mia 2 that I’ve had for 8 years, and it works great!

It Cosmetics CC Cream There’s a reason why everyone you know uses this CC Cream. The formula is full coverage but also light enough for every day wear. It’s my go-to foundation for everyday.

It’s a 10 Miracle Leave-In Product Prior to having extensions, I never used leave-in conditioner because my hair was too fine. I use this product on damp hair to condition and detangle before styling, concentrating on the ends. It helps extend the life of my extensions and makes styling easier.

Makeup Eraser I honestly bought this product because I was skeptical of the reviews. How could cloth remove my makeup with just warm water? IT. WORKS. More affordable (and environmentally friendly) than makeup wipes, I’m not sure the witchcraft used to create this magical object, but I’m here for it!

Facial Steamer I also started facial steaming this year, and my skin is so much better for it! (First seen here.) I use the facial steamer a couple nights per week after removing my makeup with the Makeup Eraser and prior to cleansing. The steam hydrates my skin and opens up my pores to remove impurities. Then, I cleanse and apply  my nightly concoction.

Mario Badescu Drying Lotion Miracle product that dries out your pimples overnight. Need I say more? (Also, the only skincare product my boyfriend will agree to use.)

Magnetic Eyelashes – I love the look of long luxurious lashes, but lash extensions are not for me. Because I wear contacts and have sensitive eyes, I am hesitant to put lash glue (with who knows what type of chemicals) so close to my eye. This year, I started my love affair with magnetic lashes which I also featured in my Amazon favorites. These are my favorite magnetic lashes because they come in sections so I only wear one section on the outer edge of my lash line to give a more natural look and make the set last longer. After each wear, I wipe them down with a makeup wipe. Usually, a set lasts me 4-6 weeks with 2-3 wears per week.

Drunk Elephant – C-Tango Multivitamin Eye Cream  Drunk Elephant is a newer skin care brand with a cult following, and I understand why after trying the C-Tango Eye Cream! It’s the only eye cream I have used religiously and went through 2 entire bottles in 2018. It’s a bit of a splurge (worth it!), but I also used and liked The Ordinary Caffeine Solution 5%.

Collagen Eye Zone Mask While these are not the absolute best eye masks I’ve ever used, they’re a damn good option for the quality and price. ($5.99 for 60 masks) I also recommend keeping them in the fridge.

Though not a beauty find of 2018, my hands down favorite find of the year is the Bytox Hangover Patch! If you follow me on Instagram, I have been singing the praises of these miracle workers for 6 months. The patch contains B Vitamins and other nutrients to fight the diuretic effects of alcohol. Before my first drink, I put the patch on my lower abdomen or inner thigh and keep it on for 8 hours after my last drink (usually the next morning). There is a slight vitamin smell, but the miraculous effect of the patch far outweighs the stench!
