Trench: J.Crew via Goodwill (Similar Splurge // Save); Tank: Parker via Goodwill (Similar Splurge // Save); Jeans: AG; Scarf: Hermes (vintage) via EBTH; Belt: Gucci; Shoes: Gianni Bini via Goodwill (Similar Splurge // Save)

Building a wardrobe of thrifted items can take time because two characteristics of an experienced thrifter are persistence and patience. I am always looking for unique, vintage pieces, but there are four wardrobe staples that you absolutely must buy at Goodwill!  These four wardrobe staples are easy finds at any Goodwill location and a great foundation of a thrifted wardrobe.

Trench Coat

Nothing beats a classic trench coat. I picked up this blush J. Crew trench coat for $12.99! I wear the heck out of my trench coat during the transition seasons because it’s perfect for the crisp mornings and office appropriate.

Athletic Tops

Though I am very particular about buying thrifted athletic wear. I find great, new or like new athletic tops at Goodwill on every shopping trip. Some of the popular athletic brands I find at Goodwill are Lululemon, Nike, Adidas by Stella McCartney, and Beyond Yoga.

Maternity

Though I don’t have any personal experience with purchasing maternity clothing, I know two things: maternity clothes are pricey and Goodwill is FULL of maternity pieces. Much like the inventory of  children’s clothes at Goodwill, the maternity wear is barely worn! Let’s be honest, there are so many more exciting things to buy when expecting a bundle of joy!

Career Tops

One of the driving forces behind my getting back into Goodwill shopping was my desperate need for career pieces. I was a broke law student that needed to, “dress for the job I want, not the job I have” on the budge I also didn’t have. The neutral Parker tank I have on above is a great layering piece to wear under blazers or cardigans for work! The Goodwill racks are brimming with career pieces from mall popular brands like J. Crew, Banana Republic, Loft, and White House/Black Market.

Scarves (preferably silk): Keep a supply stocked and wear them around the head, neck or waist depending on you mood.

Hi there! I love this post! I loveeee to look for jeans at Goodwill to do different DIY projects with. Old jeans are the best because you don’t have to break them in, plus you get to make them your own with whatever project you found on Pinterest.
