New Year’s Eve is the time to throw the style rules out the window and let your EXTRA AF flag fly high! Metallics and sequins are NYE go-tos, but here are five easy ways to stand out (in the best way) while ringing in the new year!
Blazer: Vintage via Goodwill (Similar Splurge // Save); Top: Topshop (Similar Here); Leggings: Spanx; Boots: Isabel Marant; Earrings: H&M
The Bolder, the Better
Black is the most popular color for NYE, but wearing a bold color, like this fuschia midi dress, is a guaranteed way to stand out bringing in the new year. Even if your color choice is limited to a statement pair of bold heels or earrings, you will stand out in a sea of LBDs.
Texture is Queen
If choosing a classic black look for New Year’s, try mixing interesting textures like velvet or brocade.
Layer Up
If you’re not celebrating in a tropical climate, consider layering a sheer top or colored tight under your cocktail dress. Even if your plans include strictly indoor activities, you’ll be extra thankful for the extra layer while fighting for an Uber at 2 AM.
White is Alright
No white after Labor Day? This fashion faux pas is outdated as the stone tablet it was written on. I recently found a white Tobi jumpsuit at Goodwill. I’m in love with white jumpsuits for NYE! (Don’t forget your spray tan!)
Glam it Up
This is the night to LIVE YOUR TRUTH, honey, and be as extra as your little heart desires. The sequin boots, leopard blazer, or fierce pants that splurged on for that one night WEAR IT! The neon eye palette or the metallic lipgloss, ROCK IT! Basic isn’t in your vocabulary on NYE.
I hope that you have a wonderful, memorable and joyful 2019! Thank you as always for your continued support, and I hope to bring you new and amazing Goodwill tips and fashion finds in the new year.
