Just when I thought my heart may explode with Goodwill love, I learned Goodwill features real shoppers in their retail advertisements! How cool is that?! (Start using their hashtag #igotitatgoodwill, and you could be next!) When they asked me to take part in their Fall/Winter retail campaign, I couldn’t help but contain my excitement. My joy was not centered around my ability to self-promote, but rather to contribute to an organization that empowers my community. The idea someone could be inspired by my outfit and venture to Goodwill for the first time made my heart happy,
In my experience, Goodwill shopping isn’t a one-time experience, but rather shoppers come back to Goodwill again and again, addicted to the thrill of the hunt and a bargain. If I can influence even five people to become lifetime Goodwill shoppers, 82% of the revenues from their lifetime purchases will support education, training, and job placement in our community. (Source: Goodwill International) Over the course of twenty years, the ripple effect of those five shoppers could create numerous jobs and a positive economic impact in our region. In 2014 alone, Goodwill of Middle Tennessee was directly responsible for the employment of 11,397 people and spent $77 million dollars in the regional economy! This is amazing! There is nothing better than a great goodwill find. I also love donating to the goodwill.
I love visiting our local Goodwills. There are always great buys and I’m out a charity in the process!
