It’s the season of giving, Christmas music, and the ever-popular tacky Christmas sweater! Finding the most ridiculous, tacky Christmas garb has become a welcome challenge and the highlight of the holiday party circuit. Today, I have a special guest, my cute, sweet, and extremely accommodating boyfriend, to give you a few tips for finding the perfect tacky Christmas sweater at Goodwill.
1. Shop early. Goodwill becomes a very popular destination for all of those eager shoppers searching for the tackiest sweater of them all. If you’re looking for the perfect get-up, don’t wait until the day of the party to venture to your local Goodwill. Go YESTERDAY! Seriously, the tacky Christmas sweaters are snatched up as soon as they hit the shelves. I picked up my sweater this summer because I know the struggle for the perfect tacky Christmas sweater is real.
2. Look at all sizes. Tacky Christmas sweaters come in all shapes, sizes, and colors. Look at the mens, womens, kids, and even home section for the perfect tacky loot! I like buying oversized sweaters and wearing them over tights or leggings and boots.
3. Embellish, embellish, embellish. Justin’s sweater began as a simple red men’s sweater, but a few bows, ornaments, a star, and a baby blanket turned into the perfect hipster tacky Christmas sweater. If you’re having trouble finding the perfect tacky sweater, start with a solid color and venture to the decor section for any Christmas garb to craft your one-of-a-king creation. The possibilities are truly ENDLESS!
4. Leave your pride and fashion sense at the door. The goal is the tackier, the better, right? I can’t believe I am typing those words, but yes! My motto for tacky Christmas: Go big or go home!
