The Jumpsuit Off

The Jumpsuit Off

Jumpsuits make me happy. They make getting dressed so easy and effortless! I have a pretty busy schedule so the less time I have to spend styling an outfit, the better. Plus, the right jumpsuit can make your legs look ten miles long. Who doesn’t love that? I have to admit that when the jumpsuit trend resurfaced a few years back, I was skeptical. It didn’t take me long to develop a slight obsession. Previous generations were on to something with this all-in-one outfit. (FWIW: I’m still not a fan of the male jumpsuits of the disco era.)

I’ll let you in on a little fashion secret, you don’t have to reinvent the wheel. Trends are cyclical. Even in my short 28 years, I have seen the trends from my youth start to cycle back through. Have you noticed the Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger resurgence?! I ain’t mad about it!

Designers look to the past for inspiration when designing the season’s newest trends, so why shouldn’t you do the same? I love looking at vintage pictures online for style inspiration. Unlike the over saturation of street style on social media, the fashionistas of decades past were more creative and better at creating a unique, personal style. When I start to see the same look over and over on my Instagram, I pull up google and search for “decade + clothing item”. Instantly, thousands of pictures are at my fingertips to get my creative style juices flowing. (There are usually a couple of pictures worthy of a good laugh!) There are so many resources for #styleinspo outside of Instagram!

I would love to hear your favorite decade of fashion! Leave me a comment below.
