Pantone’s Colors of the Year, rose quartz and serenity (aka blush and baby blue), are all the rage in fashion, cosmetics, and interiors. So, who is Pantone, and who made her the queen of color? I would like to have that title if anyone at Pantone is reading this! Pantone Color Institute is the leading authority on color and coloring systems, providing a standardized practice for accurately communicating colors amongst designers, manufacturers, retailers, and customers. Since 2000, Pantone has selected a Color of the Year to best capture the global spirit for the upcoming year. For the first time, Pantone selected two calming Colors of the Year for 2016 attempting to bring tranquility to our hectic lives. This selected color combo exudes peace, innocence, and femininity.
Knowing the Colors of the Year spreads through the fashion world like wildfire (i.e. marsala and radiant orchid), I immediately added rose quartz and serenity to my Goodwill wish list. (You should have one!) One early Half-Off Saturday morning, I stumbled upon this dreamy J.Crew cashmere sweater. (Yes….that exact one, but I only paid $3!) The classic look and feel of cashmere compliments the modern color, creating the perfect spring transition piece! For a chilly Easter service or early spring bridal shower, I would combine this sweater with the J.Crew Teddie pant or a floral print skirt. Other great colors to pair with rose quartz and serenity include grays, tans, and golds. Be adventurous! 2017 will be here before you know it, and Pantone will release a new Color of the Year to obsess over.
Are you adding rose quartz and serenity to your 2016 wardrobe?
Leave me a comment below and tell me how you are pairing these two colors!
